Safe Driving in Low Visibility

As the recent monsoon storms revealed, visibility on the road can drop very quickly.
Combine that with Arizona’s propensity for dust storms and knowing how to drive safely
in low visibility environments is crucial. So, without further ado, here are some of our
tips for safe driving:
Keep your headlights on low – When you are driving in low visibility, keeping your
headlights on low will prevent you from blinding other drivers and causing a
crash. This is especially important in a dust storm.
Slow down – This is perhaps the most important measure you can take when
driving in low visibility conditions. When you can’t see much, the best thing you
can do is to slow down to prevent yourself from hitting another car you can’t see.
Pull all the way off the road – If visibility drops to zero, or drops so low that you
can no longer safely drive, then pull all the way off the road. This will keep you
out of the way of unsuspecting drivers and will help to prevent any damage or
injury.
