New Bite And Run Law: What to Know

The Arizona Senate recently passed a new bill that would require pet owners to
exchange their contact information in the event of a dog bite. So, what do you need to
know?
If your dog bites someone, you must exchange your contact information with
them so that they can easily get in touch with you.
You must still report dog bites to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control
(MCACC)
Failing to provide your contact information in the event of a dog bite will now be
considered a class 2 misdemeanor.
This law was put into place to ensure that dog bites were reported to the MCACC, as
they have historically gone under reported. Furthermore, this exchange of contact
information will make the legal and medical processes involved with a dog bite easier in
the long run.
Home and renters insurance can include coverage for that liability up to certain amount.
This will cover the medical bills the victim accumulates and legal fees or lawsuits.
While this new law seeks to make the process of dealing with a dog bite easier, the legal process can still be a financial difficulty.
