Are you Allowed to Speed in an Emergency?

Everyone remembers the Hollywood trope of the main character rushing to the hospital with his love interest sick in the front seat. As he speeds through the city, you wonder if this is anywhere near legal, and the answer is no.

Speeding during a medical emergency is not legal, no matter the situation. It may be easier for you to just call an ambulance, who is allowed to speed, and have the medical professionals help that way.

The best way to get to the hospital in an emergency is through an emergency vehicle, do not try to drive your way to the hospital. And even worse, do not try to speed your way to the hospital. Although we love to think of ourselves as the main character in our own movie, it's just not the case. We have to follow the rules just like everyone else.
